What size do you need?
On average, most 10 yard dumpsters are used for household clean up weighing 1 ton or less.
Remodeling and roofing jobs on small to medium size homes average 3.5 tons for 10 yard containers.
A standard home roofing job will use a 10 yard container for one layer. However, additional layers or larger homes may need a 15 yard dumpster.
10 Yard = 40 Squares of Shingles
15 Yard = 60 Squares of Shingles
Use only 20 yard containers for concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other very heavy material and fill to only 1/2 full of the dumpster capacity. Each yard of concrete or gravel will weigh approximately 1 ton.
